A view from a hike at Pere Marquette State Park

Hello! My name is Michala. Welcome to my food/travel blog.

I am a multi-disciplinary artist based in the Bay Area. I love to entertain and create. I also love food, and find myself returning to the kitchen often. It is one way I know how to express love- and that is with lots of butter.

Over the course of the past 9 years, I have lived in many areas of the U.S.

Since 2015, I have lived in Worcester, MA, Chicago, IL, Portland, OR, Kalamazoo, MI, Mammoth, WY, Breckenridge, CO, Palm Beach, FL, Jackson, WY, Sunnyvale, CA.

“Whereas the tourist generally hurries back home at the end of a few weeks or months, the traveler belonging no more to one place than to the next, moves slowly over periods of years, from one part of the earth to another.”                                                            – Paul Bowles, The Sheltering Sky

I followed my joy and it usually led me to amazing people and experiences I will never forget.

One night at Yellowstone in 2020, under a full sky of stars, I waited for 5 hours for the Steamboat geyser to erupt. Spoiler alert: It didn’t.

That same summer, I huddled inside a vestibule with a group of tourists while an agitated elk tried to break through the glass doors.

A year later in Florida, I spent a very interesting afternoon at the Wizard of Oz Museum in Coco Beach. This is my all-time favorite film- and I never expected to find this place. I was just passing through.

I am currently wrapping up posts about Sweden, and I will begin to write about the Bay area. I can’t wait to share my experiences with you.
